BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - Aug. 25, 2015 - PRLog -- The 6th annual Women In Green Forum, scheduled for August 26th at the TreePeople Conference Center in Los Angeles, CA has just announced that Dr. Vandana Shiva will be honored with the Care2 Impact Award and Women In Green Forum Trailblazer Award. Dr. Shiva will be recognized for her outstanding impact in sustainability, human rights, women's rights, and environmental conservation.

"Care2 is very pleased to honor Dr. Shiva with the Care2 Impact Award," said Marlin Miller, Chief Operating Officer at Care2 (www.care2.com).  "Dr. Shiva is a highly regarded international leader and activist for sustainable agriculture, biodiversity and fair trade.  She is also an advocate for local farmers and a champion for elevating the role of women in sustainability.  Dr. Shiva has truly had an impressive impact on the world we live in!"

As Founder of both the Research Foundation for Science, Technology and Ecology in Dehra Dun and Navdanya, a national movement to protect the diversity and integrity of living resources and to promote organic farming and fair trade, Dr. Shiva is a globally recognized sustainable farming advocate.  Her books, The Violence of the Green Revolution and Monocultures of the Mind, pose essential challenges to the dominant paradigm of non-sustainable, industrial agriculture. Dr. Shiva combines sharp intellectual enquiry with courageous activism, and her work spans teaching at universities worldwide to working with peasants in rural India. Time Magazine identified Dr. Shiva as an environmental ‘hero’ in 2003, and Asia Week has called her one of the five most powerful communicators in Asia. In November 2010, Forbes Magazine identified Dr. Shiva as one of the Seven Most Powerful Women on the Globe.

"Dr. Shiva has been a lifelong advocate for the environment," said Jaime Nack, Founder of the Women In Green Forum. "As a leading voice in international conservation efforts, she has contributed in fundamental ways to changing the practice of agriculture and food, and we're honored to recognize her leadership at this year’s Women In Green Forum."

In addition to the award presentation, the 2015 Women In Green Forum - themed “Tomorrow By Design” - will feature a dynamic lineup of panels and keynote presentations, with speakers representing the White House, the Government of Mexico, Honda, Gensler, Lyft, and WakaWaka North America. The Forum will also feature outdoor workshops, eco product giveaways, and a ride & drive showcasing the UNI-CUB, a brand new personal mobility device from Honda.
