MOTERWRITER.COM reviews the latest hit book – Teenagers Playing Grown Ups

It is an inspiring book that encourages teens to make smarter choices in life and take responsibility for their actions.

NARRABEEN, Australia - Aug. 25, 2015 - PRLog -- Author Karen Chaston’s book ‘Teenagers Playing Grown Ups: choosing the best solution for your unplanned pregnancy’ tackles the subject of unplanned pregnancy among teenagers. Although an unplanned pregnancy can be a challenging time for a woman at any age, it can be even more so for a teenager whose brain isn’t developed enough to take an informed decision or think ahead of the consequences of their decision. In the four stories in the book, the author shares the experiences of four young women who chose different paths like marriage, abortion, single motherhood and adoption while dealing with their unplanned pregnancy. A segment in the book (dealing with marriage as one of the options) has been written by Alison Chaston.

Teenagers everywhere and from every era are always in a hurry to grow up quickly, their desire to fit in and fear of isolation from peer groups often makes them choose questionable life choices. During your teen years life can often stump you with a situation where the choices before you are many but you’re none the wiser to choose any one of them convincingly. When you are at such crossroads in life, you won’t be short of solicited and unsolicited advice from friends and strangers alike. But when you receive an advice from someone who has gone through exactly what you are going through now, then such advice turns into a hope, a hope that choosing a particular course of action will work out to yours and everyone’s advantage in the end.

Each story begins with a unique song title and the accompanying lyrics fit the theme of the chapter perfectly. And each chapter tells the story of a woman in detail, the decisions she made, her reasons behind it, the consequences of such decisions and finally a Q&A with her younger self, in search of redemption and absolution. There’s also a reference page at the end of the book for further information about the topics discussed and helpful links to important organizations.

“Mothers are strong because pregnancy toughens them up for life and I hope this book will provide the right kind of information and encouragement to a young lady as she deals with sudden changes in her life,” Karen told us when we interviewed her in connection with the book’s promotion. We discussed the book with some readers at a popular online book group and they all had great things to say about the book and appreciated the courage of all the women and especially the author in sharing their personal experiences with the world. One of the readers Steffi said "Like the women in this book I too faced an unplanned pregnancy when I was far too young to be going through such a life altering event alone and I wish I had such a book back then to reassure me that everything will turn out to be okay.” Kevin Peter who reviewed the book for Moterwriter.com said that the book’s tone was positive, encouraging and uplifting. “Pregnancy at any age, even with the best medical facilities and a supportive family around can always be a tough and challenging time for a woman. So needless to say, an isolated pregnant teen is always at a disadvantage, but books like these can help her and her family overcome the seemingly gargantuan obstacles in front of them.”

About the author:

Karen Chaston is a wife, mother, author, speaker and former CFO of a publicly listed company. Surprisingly, it took her son's death for her to become more aware, grateful, healthier, energized and live in her essence. Whilst Karen was perceived to be very successful, actually she was living a groundhog day existence, working, eating, and drinking too much, always in fight mode, her masculine totally denying her feminine side, running on empty, not fulfilled, not understanding that adrenalin in a woman's body causes burnout, exhaustion, and disconnectedness.

Karen now spends her days inspiring women to become their own best friend and live in their Essence. Creating more "conscious entrepreneurs"; who allow heart and soul, with knowledge and expertise, to guide their businesses. She’s also the author of ‘A Journey To Becoming Your Own Best Friend’ & ‘Beyond A Mother's Worst Nightmare’. Connect with her at – www.karenchaston.com.au
