MedShare celebrates the magic spark that turned the speakers’ thoughts into actions and led them to make a difference around the world - from earthquakes in Haiti and Nepal to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. The evening begins with a reception including dinner and cocktails. WHEN Thursday, September 24 from 6 to 10 p.m. WHERE SweetWater Brewing Company 195 Ottley Drive NE Atlanta, GA 30324 TICKETS $100 if purchased by August 31 $125 beginning September 1 Ticket link: www.talktaste.eventbrite.com (770) 323-5858 WHO Speakers at the 2015 Southeast Talk & Taste include: Susan Mitchell Grant, MS, RN, FAAN, NEA-BC Susan Mitchell Grant serves as the Chief Nurse Executive & Chief Patient Services Officer of Emory Healthcare and as an Associate Dean at the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing. In August 2014, she served on the leadership team at Emory Healthcare that managed and coordinated the admission of the first two persons with Ebola virus disease in the United States. As a part of this effort, she was appointed to Georgia Governor Deal’s state task force on Ebola preparedness and is involved in state and national efforts around serious communicable disease preparedness. Her work in healthcare during the last several years has been focused on patient safety and patient and family-centered care. She is a member of the national advisory board for the Institute for Patient and Family-Centered Care, the Daisy Foundation Board and the O'Neill Center Advisory Board for Get Well and is currently a doctoral student at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. Dr. Carl Kihm With the assistance of non-profit groups, Dr. Kihm co-leads an annual mission trip to Kathmandu, Nepal where the team focuses on treating severe congenital deformities in children and neglected deformity in adults. Through his humanitarian efforts, Dr. Kihm has formed a relationship with MedShare in efforts to utilize supplies to treat patients of need. A native of Pennsylvania, he earned his doctorate at the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in 2009. Dr. Kihm then completed a three-year surgical residency program at DeKalb Medical Center in Decatur, Georgia where his training emphasized foot and ankle reconstruction, trauma and elective procedures. He currently practices with Village Podiatry at offices in Canton and Marietta and is a faculty member and lecturer with The Podiatry Institute, an international teaching foundation for reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle based in Atlanta. Tatiana Jean-Louis Tatiana Jean-Louis grew up in Haiti and moved to the United States, but her family remained in Haiti and was deeply affected by the 2010 earthquake there. Her desire to help those in her home country led her to become a MedShare volunteer. Jean-Louis is a business systems analyst at UPS. Throughout her years with the company, she has held various positions in Operations and IT. A big advocate of STEM education, she holds a Master of Science in IS from Georgia State University and is currently completing her MBA in Global Business at Georgia Institute of Technology. In her spare time, she enjoys restoring old furniture, playing sports, volunteering with MedShare and collaborating with different developers on open source software projects for Robotics. A.B.
