[Ontario, Canada] If Miranda and Blake were produced by Brian Wilson, the final product may sound like the latest single from Patrick Ballantyne’s Hit a Month Series.

“What’s a Girl to Do?” was recorded live off the floor with the folk/blues/soul duo The Oh Chays (Michael and Kelly Authier) at Mark Planke’s Sharktank Productions in Windsor. It is a harmony-filled upbeat heartbreak ballad that tells a story of betrayal and revenge at the end of a relationship. The single will be available on iTunes and The Northwood Records store on August 25th.

Patrick Ballantyne: Canadian songwriter Patrick Ballantyne has been called “a secret weapon” (Bob Mersereau), named “Best Songwriter of 2014” by Now (Toronto) readers and has been nominated again this year.  In addition to releasing two solo albums (2008 and Days of Rain 2014), he has had his name appear on many album liner notes (Big Sugar, The Trews, Meredith Shaw, CCMA award winner Shane Chisholm and rising country star Tim Chaisson).

HitAMonth.com: As a songwriter foremost, Patrick Ballantyne started the sardonic “HitAMonth.com” project, where he releases a single every month through Northwood Records. The format allows collaboration with other artists and affords the flexibility to write songs in diverse genres.

The Oh Chays: Husband and wife Folk/Soul/Blues duo Kelly and Michael Authier (pronounced "OH chay") have played stages big and small across North America, wowing audiences with their spirited and versatile musicianship and their hilarious, often biting wit. The Oh Chays have racked up an impressive list of accomplishments including competing in The 31st International Blues Challenge in Memphis Tennessee, being regional finalists in CBC’s Searchlight Song Competition, as well as reaching the finals of the Toronto Blues Society's 2014 Talent Search.
