NEW ORLEANS - Aug. 24, 2015 - PRLog -- Over the past 12 years McDonald's has honored black excellence during the Essence Festival in New Orleans with its annual 365Black Awards.

For the second consecutive year the show has honored two youth that have made a difference in their respective communities. These youth have demonstrated and been recognized for their dedication to community, hard work and success.

This year, New Orleans native, Tori Turner received the Community Choice Youth Award and a $10,000 scholarship from McDonald's 365Black in partnership with the National Urban League and the Thurgood Marshall Foundation.

When asked how it feels to win a nationally recognized award at sixteen year's old, Turner had this to say.

"It is quite an honor, but it is also a huge responsibility.  This award represents my continued responsibility in service to my community." "I thank God for gifting me the many talents I have as your talents are God's gift to you, but what you do with those talents are your gift back to God." "I am also forever grateful to my family and those who have supported my company and my foundation through sponsoring, volunteerism and participation.  I could not do it without all of them."

When asked what's next, Miss Tori Turner responds.

"I will continue in my philanthropic efforts as I know I have a responsibility to my community, but more immediately I will be hosting my annual Skate 4 A Cause raising money for youth literacy in September which is also National Literacy Month.  Along with my literacy month efforts, I will be speaking at local organizations and schools through my #PrettyGirlsRead campaign encouraging young girls to pick up a book and letting them know that it is ok to be brilliant, to be smart AND to be beautiful! I am also being honored at the "Katrina10:The Media Iqnores Us" event organized by Youthanasia Foundation.  The event is dedicated to celebrating positive youth in New Orleans and changing the media narrative from focusing on negativity."

"I will be launching my new cosmetics line: "The Teen Queens Collection by Official Tori" exclusively through POW Cosmetics in September 2015. As a Senior in High School, I will be applying to colleges. My goal is to major in Film and Entrepreneurial Business and go on to Law School to study entertainment law.  I hope to one day adapt my books to television and/or film where I will write, produce, direct and star in my own works like a female Tyler Perry!" "I also hope to secure more work as an actress in the near future!"

Turner is the CEO of T Star Entertainment & Reign Drop Teen Publications and is the founder of Tori Turner's D.R.E.A.M. BIG Foundation.  Tori was also crowned 2012 Miss Black Louisiana USA Teen and 2013 Miss Teen Louisiana International.

As one of the youngest published authors in the country, the teen author secured her first publishing offer at 13 years old and is now set to release her 3rd published work, "Teen Queens:  Royal Secrets" under her own company Reign Drop Teen Publications in December 2015 and will release a new non fiction series addressing issues pertinent to teens and especially African American teens early 2016.

Turner is also fastly becoming one of the most sought after teen motivational speakers in the southern region.  To learn more about Miss Tori Turner visit www.officialtoriturner.com or on social media @officialtoriturner
