School Vision Care’s Background

Back in 2013, SVC Founders came up with a noble idea, to partner with local independent optometrists to provide full eye examinations to school children and a pair of FREE prescription glasses if needed.
Our main mandates was very simple and straightforward: 1.    To help hundreds of thousands of children to see better by providing accessible early detection vision care, 2.    To save parents and the government millions of dollars. 3.    To educate the local communities about the importance of vision care and a regular eye examination.
Fast forward to 2015, SVC has received an overwhelming response from thousands of parents.  Our optometrists have provided over 15,000 eye examination to students in various schools at both Durham and York Region through our onsite optometric mobile office.   SVC has dispensed over 3,000 pair of free prescription glasses to students in need, saving parents over $500,000 on prescription glasses. We have helped identify undetected vision issues in thousands of children at an early stage, which would have gone unnoticed for many years, had it not been for the School Vision Care program. More children are now engaged with their teachers in the classroom as of a result. Our main sponsor, Westfied Optical, has opened a brand new retail location in order to expand School Vision Care’s services to the community.  Our services includes ·         Free glasses to high school children,  ·         Free glasses to shelter residence covered by Ontario Works or ODSP,  ·         $0 for clients with insurance, ·         Excellent low cost family deals. Looking forward to seeing you at our Grand Opening, free lunch ceremony. END.
