Animas Foundation Presents Program to The Grove

Member Entrepreneurs of the Co-working Collaborative Office Space Learn About the Foundation's "Pathways to Economic Freedom" Porgram

DALLAS - Aug. 21, 2015 - PRLog -- Board members of the Animas Foundation made a lunchtime presentation to a group of entrepreneurs and social innovators who call The Grove their business address, located in the historic West End District of Dallas. The Grove is a unique collaborative co-working environment space for small to medium sized businesses, social innovators/entrepreneurs, and creative freelancers working to solve social, environmental, economic and urban problems of today.

The Animas Foundation provided lunch while two members of its Advisory Board of Directors presented the Foundation’s latest mission, called “Pathways to Economic Freedom” which provides interest-free micro-funding and mentoring of entrepreneurial, small business ventures among those who typically lack access to traditional sources of capital.

Amir Morani CPA, Executive Director and founder of the Animas Foundation said, “This was one of the first public, open-house presentations we’ve made to a community that already understands the value that entrepreneurism adds to our economy.  We were very pleased with our reception at The Grove and the quality of questions we received from the audience.”

Justin Nygren, Cofounder and Relational Architect at The Grove, said, “We were delighted to have the Animas team here to explain opportunities available to entrepreneurs through their program.”

The Animas Foundation’s Pathways to Economic Freedom, launched earlier this summer, provides interest-free micro-funding through Kiva Zip, a crowd-funding platform that helps entrepreneurial start-ups or business expansions based on a person’s strength of character, not on their balance sheet, credit rating or lack of collateral. The Foundation then pairs the entrepreneur with a business coach or mentor to assist the ventures it endorses in getting successfully launched and advanced to a point of solvency.

The Animas Foundation has been approved as Trustees of Kiva Zip for the DFW Metroplex and North Texas markets.  Borrowers on Kiva Zip endorsed by selected Trustees may receive interest-free loans for entrepreneurial start-ups and expansions, with preference for business enterprises that provide for social good, a philosophy shared by the founders and members of The Grove.

Dale Turner, Volunteer Director and Chairman of the Advisory Board, and Patrick Lee, Board Member at Large, represented the Animas Foundation with a thirty minute presentation followed by a robust question and answer session.

“The morning rain kept some of our anticipated attendance away,” said Lee.  “But the quality of questions and post-presentation discussion showed us our audience was engaged, interested and supportive,” he added.

Animas is a 501(c)(3) corporation with a social mission to improve the economic lives of low-income families in North Texas.  For more information about the Foundation and its mission, visit: www.animasfoundation.org.  For additional information about Kiva Zip, visit: zip.kiva.org.
