Hampton Alliance for Educational Excellence Attempts a Guinness World Record at Annual 5K

PITTSBURGH - Aug. 21, 2015 - PRLog -- ALLISON PARK, PA – August 21, 2015 – The Hampton Alliance for Educational Excellence (HAEE), a local non-profit volunteer organization focused on the educational enrichment of students enrolled in the Hampton Township School District, has opened registration for their 23^rd Annual Race for Educational Excellence. This year’s race, which includes a timed 5K and an untimed 1-mile walk, will be held on Saturday, October 3 at 9:00 AM at Hartwood Acres in Allison Park.

This year at the race the HAEE is attempting to set a Guinness World Record for the “Largest Gathering of People Dressed Like Dogs” to honor our beloved mascot – the Talbot – a (now extinct) hunting dog. To achieve the record, the HAEE needs to gather more than 264 people dressed in full dog costumes. The costumes must be head to toe, including a headpiece with ears. The costumes must be clearly recognizable as dogs at the discretion of the independent witnesses and Guinness World Records.

In addition to the Guinness World Record attempt – which will take place after the 5K and 1-mile walk are complete – the HAEE will have live entertainment, a basket raffle, several children’s activities, chuck-a-luck, and much more. Medals will be awarded to the top male and female finishers in each age group. Additionally, a prize will be awarded for the best “Hampton Spirit Dog Costume”.

“All of us on the board of the HAEE are excited to make this historic attempt at a Guinness World Record” said Michelle Csjaka, HAEE President. “We look forward to gathering as a community to further the cause of the HAEE, which is to promote and enhance the educational experience of Hampton students.”

All proceeds from the race will directly benefit the Hampton Township School District (HTSD). It is notable that the HTSD receives 10% less state funding than the average Pennsylvania school district, and up to 25% less than some local, comparable districts. In 2014 the HAEE funded over $92,000 in grants and scholarships to help fill this gap in state funding.
