Follow on Google News | National Eczema Association Announces Amy Fauver, VP, Advocacy & Access30 million Americans are affected by eczema, a skin disease that is not contagious and has no cure. Eczema can have tremendous negative impact on quality of life due to incessant itch, sleep loss, and potential for serious infection. For the first time, there are more than 40 new eczema treatments in development and exciting advances in research that could, if they are accessible and affordable, radically lift the burden of eczema for millions of people. As the VP for Advocacy and Access, Amy will position NEA to deliver stronger, more united messages to insurers, medical providers and policy-makers on behalf of the eczema community and lead targeted efforts to make better eczema medical care, and accessible and affordable new treatments realities. The VP for Advocacy and Access position is the result of a strategic planning process that resulted in NEA’s Roadmap to Advocacy (http://nationaleczema.org/ “We’re very excited that Amy has joined our team,” says Julie Block, CEO of NEA. “Her expertise in public affairs and commitment to raising the profile of eczema as a serious disease will benefit both our members and the medical community who treat them.” Amy brings more than fifteen years of experience in strategic communications, coalition-building, program development and government relations to NEA. Amy comes to NEA from Cover Oregon, Oregon's Health Insurance Marketplace, where she served as Chief Communications Officer and was responsible for all outreach, government affairs, communications, and marketing efforts. Prior to her work with Cover Oregon, Amy held positions in which she successfully helped pass major health reform legislation, including as Director of State and Federal Legislative Affairs for the Oregon Health Authority and as Policy Advisor to the Senate Majority Office of the Oregon Legislature. Amy’s early grassroots organizing and policy work centered on affordable housing. Amy earned a Master in Public Affairs and a Master of Arts in Latin American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University.
