HomeAid Celebrates the Completions of its 600th Projects Nationally

Co-owners of the Milestone dedicated in Portland and Sacramento

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - Aug. 19, 2015 - PRLog -- On June 30th HomeAid’s Portland and Sacramento chapters both completed and dedicated a project, which allows them to co-celebrate the completion of HomeAid’s 600th project.  The 600 projects includes everything from the construction of large multi-unit housing for the homeless, to “Care Day” projects where an existing shelter is fixed up, painted, or landscaped.

“HomeAid has had a proud 26 year history of helping the homeless across the country, and this milestone is a testament not only to the great work the organization has done over the years, but to its staying power through good times and bad,” said Peter Simons, CEO of HomeAid America.  “The charities that we enlist builders to create and upgrade housing for all do incredible work to help the homeless get back on their feet, and we are just happy to be able to help them out.”

HomeAid Sacramento’s project was for Next Move, a charity that helps homeless families.  Speaking at the dedication event were Mayor Kevin Johnson, Supervisor Phil Serna, and Congresswoman Doris Matsu.   Beth Kang, Executive Director of HomeAid Sacramento, said “With the support of over 30 homebuilding  trade partners and USA Properties Fund, HomeAid Sacramento has been able add 30 beds to the Next Move Family Campus. These businesses donated more than $500,000 to this $2.5 million, 85 bed shelter to provide dignified emergency housing where families can stay together.”

HomeAid Portland completed $45,000 worth of improvements to the Love INC-Newberg shelter for women and children. The projected added a much needed second bathroom, and an upgraded kitchen, trim, paint, flooring and wiring for the shelter.  Over two dozen trade partners came together to complete the project with over $25,000 donated in labor and materials.  “We are so very pleased to have dedicated our project as one of HomeAid America’s co-600th projects,” said Ken Cowdery, Executive Director of HomeAid’s Portland chapter. “This is an outstanding milestone for HAA and we are so happy to be a part of it.”
