Follow on Google News | Mansfield Resident Publishes Story of HopeSurviving With Grace. The book shares the story of her husband’s declining health and eventual death and how she dealt with the loss of her spouse. When Brawner’s husband, Jerry, had open-heart surgery, the doctor told them he would be home in a week and back to work in six months. However, after the surgery Jerry was in and out of the hospital with multiple complications, and eventually he died. Surviving With Grace is the story of Brawner’s journey. From dealing with depression to caring for a terminally ill spouse to coping with the death of her husband, Brawner met each challenge with grace. She attributes this to her faith in God. The first half of the book features Brawner’s personal story, and the second half offers advice as to how to cope with life’s crises. She shares her thoughts through the analogy of making a comforter. The various pieces each represent something, and the end result is a warm blanket that helps shelter us from the cold realities of the world. Brawner was born and raised in Ohio and still calls the “Buckeye State” home. She works as a home health aide, and in her spare time she enjoys cooking, sewing, embroidering, crocheting, and canning fruits and vegetables. Last year the Mansfield Seventh-day Adventist Church where Linda attends asked her to start a small group ministry revolving around her interest in making useful things for others. Last year the group made 688 items. They sent some things to Kenya, the Philippines, and Ukraine. They also collected used clothing for a local clothes closet and repurposed clothing that wasn’t fit to pass on. Surviving With Grace is published by TEACH Services, and is available through the publisher’s Web site (www.TEACHServices.com) End
