Miami’s IBT Group honored for developing Peru call center, jobs for people with disabilities

MIAMI - Aug. 18, 2015 - PRLog -- IBT Group (http://www.ibtgroup.com/en) of Miami has been recognized for its outstanding work on behalf of people with disabilities in Peru.

CONADIS (http://www.conadisperu.gob.pe/), Peru’s National Council for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities, gave IBT Group the “I Can Do It” (“Soy Capaz”) award at a recent Lima Chamber of Commerce ceremony. IBT Group is a consortium of companies developing public works and infrastructure in emerging nations.

IBT Group is developing an ambitious program at two major Lima hospitals in conjunction with DKV Foundation Integralia (http://www.fundacionintegralia.org/), - a foundation founded in 1999 to advance the interests of the disabled. The program at the Guillermo Kaelin de la Fuente and Alberto Leopoldo Barton Thomson hospitals is launching with 26 call center employees, with plans to hire 15 more.

“This is just a beginning for us and we hope this can become a model for the region, where employment of people with disabilities lags that of other nations, particularly the United States, where the Americans with Disabilities Act has been the law of land since 1990,” said IBT Group Managing Director Daniel Toledano.

“They are performing splendidly in good jobs with equal pay and benefits to those without disabilities. This program transforms lives, empowers people socially and economically, lifts them from poverty and serves as a stellar example for the Latin American region.”

The foundation employs more than 260, most with physical disabilities.
