Established in 2013, the O’Connor Institute SAFE (Safeguarding Adolescents From Exploitation) Since its rollout, the SAFE Action Project has garnered national attention, with other states requesting resources and training for their own lodging and tourism organizations. With the new website and online training materials, the SAFE Action Project is now able to provide seamless online training and webinars to all interested lodging properties, in addition to offering in-person, expert led trainings. The SAFE Action Project is designed to offer a wide variety of child sex trafficking training resources to help tourism staff along with everyday travelers nationwide to recognize the warning signs and how to report suspicious behavior, with a “see something, say something” approach. In addition to tourism industry trainings, the SAFE Action Project collaborates with a multitude of community organizations to educate youth and the community at large on the issue of child sex trafficking.
