LONDON - Aug. 18, 2015 - PRLog -- Watters Publishing has recently launched ‘The Measly Virus’, a book targeted at 4-8 year olds which aims to promote a positive message about vaccination to children, parents and guardians alike, highlighting the resilience and impact of a vaccine-preventable disease and the bravery required to protect oneself, and those most vulnerable among us (view the book trailer here).

All in rhyme and accompanied by bright illustrations, the tale is of a young girl who is being followed by a cheeky, impertinent virus monster that is set to ensnare her and make her sick. But the young girl knows that if she gets sick, then her grandma and baby sister could get really sick and maybe even die, so she decides to be a superhero and get her vaccinations so that she can protect herself and her family.

Written by Australian author Emma Vincent and illustrated by Canadian artist Laura Watson, the book is dedicated to Riley Hughes, a four-week-old baby who tragically died in Perth, Western Australia on March 17th 2015 as a result of contracting Pertussis (Whooping Cough). To honour Riley’s memory, part-proceeds from book sales will go toward supporting Pertussis research and vaccination initiatives at the Princess Margaret Hospital where Riley was treated.

Watters Publishing is a newly established independent publishing business founded by Emma Vincent. It aims to bring awareness to children everywhere of critical issues affecting their health and wellbeing, inspire the next generation to live less stressful and healthier, more sustainable lives, and contribute meaningfully to a safer, healthier and happier world for future generations.
