Dialysis Clinic, Inc., hosts kidney education event with Lake Regional Hospital

OSAGE BEACH, Mo. - Aug. 17, 2015 - PRLog -- Dialysis Clinic, Inc. (DCI) is hosting a free kidney care and dialysis education event in conjunction with Lake Regional Hospital on Aug. 27, from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

The general public is invited to enjoy light refreshments and learn more about kidney disease and dialysis needs from two leading healthcare providers in the community. DCI Lake Ozark staff members are excited to team up with Lake Regional for the first time to advocate together for people affected by kidney disease.

“Our decision to collaborate was fueled by the desire to bring together the kidney care community,” said Donna Whittle, DCI Lake Ozark nurse manager.

By partnering with Lake Regional, DCI Lake Ozark aims to educate both patients and hospital employees. The upcoming event will be an opportunity for professional development and networking among kidney care providers. It will also offer healthcare professionals the occasion to meet with caregivers who have specific insight into dialysis patient’s needs.

“Dialysis needs are complex,” Whittle said. “We want potential patients and caregivers to be able to ask questions and learn more about kidney disease so that they can become more active participants in resolving their healthcare concerns.”

Topics of discussion will include patient safety, health policies, peritoneal dialysis and a general information session on kidney disease. DCI Lake Ozark medical directors Michael Young, DO, and M. Qasim Cheema, MD, will be available to answer any potential questions.

In addition, DCI Lake Ozark’s dietician, social worker, and Reach Kidney Care coordinator will be available to provide information on kidney care nutrition and chronic kidney disease.
