It’s a slim volume that digs deep and sees the roots of future consumerism grow from a 1950’s bow wave of optimism that welled up from two world wars. Now retired from a career that was as varied in location as in areas of business, Sue has a wealth of experience to draw on from the industrial north of England to the Arabian deserts and the remote islands of the Indian Ocean. The book has met critical acclaim as a ‘perfect gem of a story’ that ‘comes satisfyingly full circle yet ends on a shiver’.
