The Pioneer Collective Opens 6,600 sqft. Independent Coworking and Event Space in Pioneer Square

SEATTLE - Aug. 14, 2015 - PRLog -- [July 5th, 2015]

On June 1st, 2015, The Pioneer Collective, a locally owned coworking space in Pioneer Square, opened to the public.  The company is housed in the ground level space of The Westland Building at 100 S King Street in Pioneer Square.

The Pioneer Collective offers full-time and part-time memberships, mail handling, drop-in services, conference room rentals, and 3,000 sqft. of meeting and event rental space available on a limited basis.

Owner Audrey Hoyt differentiates her space from others around Seattle by catering to what she believes is an underserved crowd: creatives, freelancers and small teams who work in industries other than the fundable tech startup world.  “There are thousands of professionals in Seattle who need a place to work, either because they are a remote worker, self-employed, or on a team that isn’t yet ready to jump into a commercial lease,” she says, “there are a lot of great incubators, accelerators, and tech-focused shared spaces around Seattle, but they are generally geared toward a very specific subset of the economy.  99% of independent workers aren’t launching a scalable technology product with eyes on the exit (i.e. trying to be the next Instagram) but these people need somewhere to work too.  We believe there is a critical mass of entrepreneurs, creatives, professionals, and small business owners who don’t fit the mold of other shared spaces, but want to work in a collaborative, intelligent environment with first class amenities.”

Those amenities are another factor that The Pioneer Collective team hopes will attract new members.  In contrast to many budget conscious spaces that imitate the spartan office designs of local technology companies, Hoyt used her interior design background to bring an organic and antique sophistication to her space.  Finding a space with history was a priority from the beginning for her.  When she first walked through The Westland Building, constructed in 1907, she knew she had found a winner.  She chose to showcase the building’s character features like old growth timber beams and exposed brick walls by employing a minimalist yet elegant aesthetic.  Hoyt and her husband built or handpicked each piece of furniture in the space.  Modern Herman Miller task chairs provide contrast to antique fixtures and lighting while open backed bookcases act as partitions to preserve natural light.  The team also worked with local fabricator Weld & Glue to design each of the oak desks and communal tables throughout the space.

In addition to a beautiful work atmosphere and high speed fiber internet, members enjoy access to private phone rooms, a workout room, showers, and bike storage.   The kitchen serves gourmet coffee sourced from Pioneer Square neighbors Elm Coffee Roasters and fresh flowers from Washington growers are an office staple.

Memberships are available now.  Part time community plans start at $100 per month, while full time memberships range from $265 to $495 per month. Those interested in scheduling a tour or signing up for a trial membership can visit http://www.thepioneercollective.com/membership/.
