ATLANTA - Aug. 14, 2015 - PRLog -- HomeAid Atlanta partnered with Bank of America to assemble and donate 1,200 HomeAid CareKits at the Atlanta Community Food Bank.   Bank of America employees volunteered their time to assemble the CareKits, which contain shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, and other self-care items often needed by people experiencing homelessness. The kits will be distributed by the Atlanta Community Food Bank to its nonprofit partner agencies serving metro Atlanta families and individuals in need through food pantries, shelters and other programs.

Bank of America is a national supporter of HomeAid America and its 17 local chapters scattered throughout the country.  Several HomeAid chapters have had the opportunity to partner with local Bank of America locations to create HomeAid CareKits.  CareKits are donated to local groups serving the homeless and shared with those in need.

“The partnership between Bank of America and HomeAid Atlanta is such an important part of helping those in need in our community,” said Elizabeth Haskell, Food Drive Sourcing Specialist with the Atlanta Community Food Bank. “The CareKits assembled by the volunteers will be a welcome addition to the food that is distributed by our partner agencies. Personal hygiene items are often one of the tradeoffs that people make when deciding what they can afford to eliminate so their families can eat.”

HomeAid Atlanta has assembled 2,200 CareKits since introducing this HomeAid America program locally with the help of Bank of America in 2014.
