Burnham Resources Reports: Half a Million More Small Employers to Fulfil Auto-enrolment Duties

Aug. 25, 2015 - PRLog -- Burnham Resources, an outplacement consultancy specialising in payroll jobs based in Egham, Surrey, has recently released a report that about half a million more small and micro employers than previously estimated will be required to fulfil auto-enrolment obligations. This new figure was published in The Pensions Regulator’s third annual automatic enrolment commentary, which revealed a total of 1.8 million small and micro employers will need to meet their pension duties over the next three years, compared to the previous estimate of 1.3 million. This is due to an increase in business start-ups and a decrease in the number of closures.

The report highlights that saving for retirement in the UK is becoming the norm due to auto-enrolment, but also illustrates substantial change for the pension landscape. Concerns have been raised over the possibility of a “capacity crunch” for pension providers, owing to the sharp rise in the number of employers due to stage for auto-enrolment, with many in the industry predicting that suppliers and advisers will struggle to keep up with demand.
