News from AUMA the electric actuator manufacturer: Compact design for new AUMA coaxial gearboxes

AUMA has expanded its portfolio of modular valve control devices with a new range of GP coaxial gearboxes. The gearboxes are designed for gate and globe valve operation as well as part-turn applications, such as butterfly and ball valves.

MUELLHEIM, Germany - Sept. 15, 2015 - PRLog -- The new gearboxes support manual valve operation or automated valve operation via an actuator mounted with an adapter flange. A compact design is at the heart of the development, providing an optimum centre of gravity which contributes significantly to reduction of static and dynamic forces to the valve. Radial force impact to the valve is avoided with a coaxial design allowing centred gearbox mounting onto the valve flange.

The gearboxes are available in four sizes, each with three reduction ratios: a torque range between 100 to 2,500 Newton metres is offered. Reduction ratios are implemented by planetary gearings ranging from 2.4:1 to 16:1.

AUMA, the electric actuator manufacturer, celebrated its 50th anniversary in September 2014. Founded by Werner Riester and Rudolf Dinse in 1964 in Swabian Ostfildern, Germany, the company has grown from two to 2,300 employees with global representation and a headquarters manufacturing facility that covers more than 40,000 square metres.

A world class, purpose-built, manufacturing and assembly factory in Muellheim houses state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment, backed by significant R&D investment and engineering expertise, to ensure that AUMA stays at the leading edge of actuation technology.

Five Decades in Flow Control

AUMA has set the standard in modular actuation technology and today supplies 180,000 actuators per annum, tailoring each device to meet the specific needs of each installation.

True modularity is achieved through complete adaptability of AUMA’s actuation devices. Whether the application is for a ball valve or lock gate and whether this is operated electrically/manually or conventionally/via fieldbus, AUMA provides the user with an adaptable advantage.

AUMA actuators are widely adopted around the world providing essential automation functionality in a range of water, energy, chemical and oil/gas applications.
