Infertility Patients Share Their Journey to Start a Family-The Fertility Center of Charleston

Dr. Stephanie Singleton and The Fertility Center of Charleston patients help couples struggling to conceive by giving an inside look of the infertility journey through a patient's perspective.

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Aug. 12, 2015 - PRLog -- One in eight couples will experience infertility.   While this number is staggering, many couples are often hesitant to discuss their struggles to start a family.  Some are also hesitant to reach out for help in fear of disappointment.    Dr. Stephanie Singleton and The Fertility Center of Charleston patients want to help couples in this position by giving an inside look of the infertility journey through a patient's perspective.

To make the call or not?

Dr. Singleton recommends that couples with a female over the age of 35 should schedule an initial consult after six months of trying to conceive.   Calling to schedule that first appointment is often hard to make. One patient remembers the fear of disappointment.  She shares her story and says to schedule an initial consult sooner rather than later.  She says,  "We tried for 8 years. We were scared to start IVF because of disappointment.   I was miserable and depressed for years. We were successful our first try with twins.  We are truly blessed."

IVF-IUI What Does it all Mean?

During the process, there is often a lot of unknown for the patients.  At The Fertility Center of Charleston, Dr. Singleton takes the time with each couple to discuss their options.  In addition, the same physician handles the couples care throughout the entire fertility journey.  One patient says this help keeps their minds at ease.  Says a mother of a little baby boy, "It's one of the most emotional things you will ever go through, but you will never know unless you try! Hold on, pray hard and have faith!"  Another states,  "Think positive! We are currently in our IVF cycle. They are so amazing at The Fertility Center of Charleston, I have hope!!!"

HOPE

Hope is a word that often comes up in the infertility struggle.   Says a former patient; "I fought infertility for almost 4 years. I never thought I would ever be able to have a baby. There might be disappointment and heartbreak, but you can't let it stop you if you really want to have your little family. No matter how much I wanted to quit and give up trying, somehow the very next cycle I found myself testing and trying again. The one quote that helped me get through is, H.O.P.E= hold on pain ends. It may take months and even years, but you will get your dream come true! I’m currently 16 weeks with my miracle!"
