Top 100 contenders chosen for INTERFACE Health Excellence Challenge

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Aug. 11, 2015 - PRLog -- In the past two months, more than 100 companies and individuals from 18 countries applied to enter the INTERFACE Health Excellence (IHX) Challenge.

Canada’s first ever digital health technology challenge was officially announced on June 1, 2015. It offered a share in $100,000 worth of prizes to digital health
innovators producing the best solutions for global health problems in 10 digital
health categories. IHX judges winnowed the entries down to 100, based on how well they answered our three main criteria:

1. Will solving the problem have a global impact?
2. Does the solution have the potential to make money?
3. Is there a kickass team behind the project?

Roughly 50% of the entries came from Canada and 30% from the USA, while the rest came from Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa and Latin America.

The next step will be to narrow the field to the top 25 competitors by August 21st
and further, to a top 10 list by August 31st. The final 10 will go head to head at the 4th Annual INTERFACE HEALTH SUMMIT in Vancouver, September 29 & 30.

“We view our IHX Challenge as being similar to the Olympics,” says INTERFACE
Health founder and IHX creator Michael Bidu. “The idea is to use international
competition to improve performance and results by digital health innovators from
anywhere on the planet. This is a global competition to find the world’s most
innovative health entrepreneurs whose ideas and products can change health for the better, everywhere in the world.”

Besides a chance to win money and professional services, the top 10 entries will have the opportunity to meet an international audience of health entrepreneurs, and possibly be invited to align themselves with large commercial partners.

“Entrants are challenged to compete in their choice of 10 digital health categories – to define a problem of global significance and convince our judges that they have a practical, attainable solution with money-making potential,” says Bidu.

The categories range from big data and visual analytics to digital therapies and
medical devices, mental health, telemedicine and wearables. There is even an
unspecified “surprise us” category for those misfits and geniuses of digital health
who refuse to be categorized.
