Back To School and Name Labels

This article is about the massive rise in the sales of name labels in August to serve the “back-to-school” market in the UK. It is written by David Worgan whose company has been supplying this market every year since 2003 with their product called Stikins®. A new silver coloured version of their product has been launched this summer.
NANTWICH, U.K. - Aug. 8, 2015 - PRLog -- Certain products will always sell in huge volumes for just a very short period of time; you might think instantly about Pumpkins before Halloween, Cranberry Sauce before Christmas, or even Crème Eggs before Easter, but there’s another kind of product that has its very own peak season – in August.

August sees a massive spike in sales of name labels as parents across the country look to make sure that the back to school essentials they’ve been buying all summer will make it to school and back again, safely in one piece. Every year, over 700,000 children start school for the first time – and every single one will need brand new shoes, shirts and everything in between, along with the essential bits and pieces and bags to cart them around in. Plus, there’s the millions of children who are returning to school, who often need replacements for last year’s items that they’ve outgrown.

Today, school uniform and equipment is often bought directly from the school and a selection of mainstream retailers, which means that most of the property taken into school is either identical or very similar. All of which adds up to a lost property nightmare for parents and school staff alike.

There are 3 main kinds of name label namely; sew-in, iron on or stick-on. All will work so it is a matter of personal choice. The sew- in labels are the most durable and come in different colours and sizes, however parents have to sew them in and this can be time consuming. Iron on name labels come in several different qualities and so it can be hard to assess how good a particular brand is. Iron on labels have very specific manufacturer instructions which should be followed carefully to make them as durable as possible, simply putting the iron over them once will not generally work. Stick on labels have become more popular in recent years as materials have improved, they are fast to apply and last well, however they are not as attractive as some sew in labels.

Label Planet Ltd, a family company based in Cheshire, has announced today that it now has over 1500 online reviews (average 4.9 out of 5) for its revolutionary name label product, STIKINS ®.

STIKINS ® simply stick onto the wash care label of school garments, which means it is quick and easy to get an entire uniform labels – with no sewing or ironing required. Unusually, STIKINS ® name labels can also be used on all of the personal items and equipment that children take to school, including shoes and bags, lunch boxes and water bottles, stationery and book, mobiles and tablet, P.E. equipment, and even their bike.

STIKINS ® have been on the market for over 11 years, with the current version of the product entering its fifth year on sale in the UK. As a result, STIKINS ® have been applied to an estimated 17 million school items by parents across the country. David Worgan, the MD of Label Planet, says, “Stikins ® have been so successful that there are no plans to change anything.”

Label Planet has launched a new product this year; Silver Stikins ® are the same as the white version but provide parents (and children) with a fun alternative colour to choose.
