WATERBURY, Conn. - Aug. 6, 2015 - PRLog -- Lynn Ward, president and CEO of the Waterbury Regional Chamber, announced that Mr. David Krechevsky of Wallingford has been named the non-profit organization’s new director of public policy and economic development. “In this important position,” explained Ward, “Mr. Krechevsky will develop and present the Chamber’s positions on public policy, and work to educate members while encouraging them to participate in legislative and regulatory issues. Additionally, he will develop programming for the Chamber’s Manufacturers Council, and facilitate the annual STEM/Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Expo for students in the region.”

A native of West Hartford and a graduate of the University of Connecticut in Storrs with a B.A. in English, Krechevsky worked for several newspapers across Connecticut for more than 13 years, including the Journal Inquirer and the Connecticut Post. He started with the Republican-American in January 2002 as Naugatuck bureau chief, and in August 2004 was promoted to his most recent position as business editor.

Krechevsky is also a co-founder and race director of the Bob Veillette 5K Road Race, which raises money to help with the medical expenses and long-term care of the former managing editor of the Republican-American, who suffered a massive stroke in April 2006 and was left “locked in” – fully conscious but paralyzed from the nose down. The race, now in its 10th year, has raised more than $110,000.

One of the largest chambers in Connecticut, the Waterbury Regional Chamber, which includes the Naugatuck Chamber of Commerce and the Watertown/Oakville Chamber of Commerce, represents over 1,000 businesses in the Greater Waterbury region that includes Beacon Falls, Bethlehem, Cheshire, Middlebury, Naugatuck, Oakville, Oxford, Prospect, Southbury, Thomaston, Waterbury, Watertown, Wolcott, and Woodbury. The Waterbury Regional Chamber is currently celebrating its 125th anniversary of strengthening the regional economy by serving its members.
