By: Karen I. Hirsch Photography Hirsch made the photo "Pilot in Transit" with her iphone while she was passing through the United Terminal at O'Hare Airport. She was on the conveyer walkway, when she saw the pilot approaching from the opposite direction. She dug her phone out of her purse and got the shot that she had envisioned. The lines, shapes and color of the environment frame the figure of the pilot in motion. Jurors fot the fourth round were Joanna Szupinska-Myers, curator of exhibitions t the California Museum of Photography, Sebastian Campos, principal of THE MISSION in Chicago and Houston and Anca Rujoiu, independent curator, Collective Fictions, in the United Kingdon. The ArtSlant Showcase has six rounds of competition per year. An artist is only permitted to enter one image per round. There are multiple categories for entries, including drawing, painting, sculpture, abstract and new media. "I am very pleased to have my photo selected for this honor," commented Hirsch. Hirsch comes from a career of commercial and editorial photography. Her fine art photography and digital art have recently been exhibited at the Palm Beach Photographic Center in Florida, the Martha Schneider Gallery in Chicago, and the Hyde Park Art Center and Bridgeport Art Center in Chicago. In 2014, the Illinois Arts Council awarded Hirsch with an art grant. Hirsch's prints are found in corporate and private collections. http://www.karenihirsch.com http://www.karenihirsch.com/ End
