Increase in Same-Sex Weddings Predicted with Supreme Court Ruling

DENVER - Aug. 4, 2015 - PRLog -- The United States became the twenty-first country to legalize same-sex marriages last Friday. “The entire LGBTQ community will not get married, or even have a desire to be married,” said Madelyn Detloff, associate professor of English and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Miami University. “What it does is allow all in the GLBTQ community to be ‘treated with dignity’ in the eyes of the law,” she said.

Many same-sex wedding include customs considered traditional and some are unique to the LGBTQ community. A recent study sponsored by Gay Market Research, asked which traditions were followed, where couples found their team of wedding vendors, the size of their wedding party, and honeymoons). The study is the widest-reaching wedding study of same-sex couples ever conducted, and the results reflect the diversity of the LGBTQ community.
