How to fix POP3 and IMAP settings for Yahoo Mail

DUBLIN, Calif. - Aug. 4, 2015 - PRLog -- Microsoft Outlook allows it’s users to sync their mailing accounts to it. Users of many different email providers are allowed to sync their mailing accounts with Outlook. Users having their Yahoo mail accounts synced to Microsoft Outlook recently started facing problems in connecting to the server. However they should not be too concerned as this is due to a recent technical change that occurred in the Yahoo system. Yahoo now requires it’s users to use SSL enabled ports in order to connect to Yahoo mail via the Outlook mailing software. Previously, POP3 had the port 110 which now has port 995+SSL.

-          In order to fix this POP3 configuration, the user needs to the Yahoo settings in Outlook > click on modify account > More settings on the main configuration window.

-          Then the user is required to go the “advanced” tab and update their SSL and port settings.

This should fix the POP3 settings for the user’s account.

The IMAP port, that was previously 143, has been changed to port 993+SSL.

-          In order to fix an IMAP configuration, the user needs to go to the Yahoo settings in Outlook, modify the Yahoo account, and click More Settings on the main configuration window.

-          Then the user is supposed to go to the Advanced tab and update the port and SSL settings.

It has been learnt by that the SMTP port will also be changing soon.
