David McGuffin of Riverside Drive Animal Care Center Selected to Present at Sighthound Conference

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Aug. 3, 2015 - PRLog -- Today, Riverside Drive Animal Care Center, a full-service veterinary medical facility for cats and dogs for more than 25 years, announced that Dr. David McGuffin will speak at the 4th Annual Sighthound Wellness Conference. McGuffin will present on the topic, “Minimally Invasive Techniques for Surgery and Diagnostics,” Aug. 8 at 10 a.m. at the conference, which will be held at Oglebay Resort and Conference Center in Wheeling, West Virginia.

The conference, produced by the Greyhound Health Initiative, presents valuable medical information for Sighthound owners, adopters, trainers, and for veterinarians involved in the care of these unique breeds.

With the increasing popularity of adopting retired rescue Greyhounds as pets--it’s estimated that more than 80,000 now live in homes as pets—owners need a place to turn to properly diagnose and treat the special health needs of these dogs. Riverside Drive Animal Care Center provides one of the only programs in the Midwest specializing in treating the particular health needs of this breed. Part of a group known as Sighthounds, Greyhounds are unique dogs in that they have health needs specific to their breed, including issues related to thyroid, excessive bleeding and dental disease.
