CLEARFIELD, Pa. - Aug. 3, 2015 - PRLog -- After more than two years, Colonial Courtyard at Clearfield is back.

Construction work on the senior living community located at 1300 Leonard Street is nearly complete and residents are expected to move in later this fall. The completion of the project will mark the latest impressive step in the community’s ability to bounce back after a devastating fire destroyed the original building on June 25, 2013.

Colonial Courtyard at Clearfield will hold an Open House of the community’s model apartments on August 6. The new community will include 74 suites, with 17 of those in the memory care neighborhood and 54 in senior living.

   The itinerary includes:

·         A hard hat tour for dignitaries and special guests, 3:30 to 4 p.m.

·         A private tour for people who have made deposits on rooms in the new building, 4 to 4:30 p.m.

·         A tour for the general public, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

“More than two years have gone by since that tragic night of June 25, 2013,” said Richard Irwin, co-founder and CEO of Pittsburgh-based IntegraCare, which operates Colonial Courtyard at Clearfield. “In the months and years since the fire, our team and those residents who once lived here have faced so much adversity, yet still looked forward to a brighter future. The future has arrived, and we are proud to unveil our model apartments.”

Colonial Courtyard at Clearfield will show three fully-furnished model rooms – including a small studio; a studio deluxe; and a one-bedroom unit.

“This is an exciting time for this tight-knit community. Everyone made a commitment to move forward and make the best of a tragic situation,” said Candy Shomo, Executive Director at Colonial Courtyard at Clearfield. “The positive is that no one was injured on the night of the fire. The positive spirit of our residents, their family members and our entire team remained even after the building was gone. Now, we are so close to moving into the new building. It has been a wonderful progression.”

The fire displaced 60 residents and nearly the entire staff at Colonial Courtyard at Clearfield. Of most importance, none of the residents or team members was injured during a well-executed evacuation. Numerous local and regional fire departments, police departments and first responders were on the scene during the fire.

Many residents were relocated to IntegraCare senior communities such as Colonial Courtyard at Bedford and Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone.

In the months after the fire, the damaged building was demolished by G&R Excavation of Tyrone. Lami Grubb Architects of Pittsburgh was the architect, and Jerry Horn Construction of Sewickley was the primary contractor during the rebuilding project.

Two phases of demolition took nearly a year after the fire because of testing of the concrete slab that had to be completed. The new construction began in October 2014.
