Lakewood Ranch Community Fund Giving Circle Presents $2,500 in Grants to Local Non-Profits

BRADENTON, Fla. - July 31, 2015 - PRLog -- Sisterhood For Good, a donor-advised fund of the Lakewood Ranch Community Fund, held its third annual grant distribution event on July 29, 2015, at the Lakewood Ranch Town Hall, where the giving circle was proud to give $2,500 to local non-profits. With a record number of grant applicants this year, members of the giving circle made the decision to split their funds in order to assist more people in the community.

“It is truly wonderful to see so many local women come together to make a difference for the causes that our close to our hearts,” said Angela Massaro-Fain, founding donor and administrator of Sisterhood For Good. “We are thrilled to be able to provide the much-needed funds that work to advance some very worthwhile organizations in our region.”

Each year, the women of the group assemble to discuss the varying needs of our community, raise funds and vote on grant distribution. The organizations chosen by Sisterhood For Good to receive grants at this year’s reception are:

BioScent K9
BioScent K9 was awarded $500 by the Sisterhood For Good and will use this grant to purchase a beagle puppy that will be trained to detect cancer. To learn more about BioScent K9 visit, bioscentk9.com

Child Protection Center, Inc.
Sisterhood For Good awarded Child Protection Center Inc. with a $500 grant, which will be used to expand their Personal Safety and Community Awareness Program (PSCA). To learn more visit, cpcsarasota.org

Mark Wandall Foundation
This local non-profit provides support and assistance to children who have had a death of an immediate family member. They were awarded $500 and plan to use these funds to offer a free Comfort Zone Bereavement Camp in October 2015 for children aged 5 to 17. For more information, visit themarkwandallfoundation.org

We Care Manatee
This is the second year in a row that We Care Manatee has received a grant from the Sisterhood For Good. This year they were awarded $1,000, which they plan to use to provide free screening mammograms for uninsured women in Manatee county. To learn more about this non-profit visit, wecaremanatee.org

“You can tell that The Sisterhood For Good really cares about their community. The grant money Child Protection Center received will allow us to host 7 more child abuse prevention workshops,” said Doug Staley, Executive Director of Child Protection Center Inc. “I also am excited to see that BioScent K9 will be able to extend their services. I have seen children benefit tremendously from canine assistance.”
