We’ve all heard of osteoporosis --but have you heard of severe malignant osteopetrosis?  Unless you’re one of only 200 families in the entire country dealing with this devastating diagnosis… you probably haven’t.  Severe malignant osteopetrosis is a very rare bone disease that afflicts babies and young children. Join Dr. Paul Orchard, one of the experts in the U.S. in the use of bone marrow stem cell transplants needed by osteopetrosis patients, as he describes what osteopetrosis is and current treatment options. He will be joined on set by Paul and Barbara Wersten, whose son Ryan was diagnosed with malignant infantile osteopetrosis at 3 weeks old.
