GAI Consultants Adds John Saunders, P.E. to Their Expanding Florida Transportation Market

(GAI) welcomes John Saunders, P.E., Engineering Director, to its Florida transportation market. John brings with him over 29 years of experience and a proven track record of successfully managing and leading transportation teams and high profile projects.

John’s background includes all phases of highway design project management while specializing in limited access highway projects with involvement of all aspects of roadway plan development including planning, design, project management, and post design services.

He is experienced in the development and design of multilane mainline toll facilities with high speed express lanes, one-way ramp plazas, and all-electronic toll collection facilities.

He has acted as project manager on many major projects including the reconstruction of the I-10/I-95 Interchange in Jacksonville, Florida and implementing express lanes and the all-electronic toll conversion for the Veterans Expressway in Hillsborough County, Florida.

John will be responsible for all Transportation Design efforts in Southwest Florida including FDOT District 1 and 7, as well as serving as a Senior Project Manager on Florida Turnpike Enterprise projects and large scale Design-Build pursuits.  In addition, he will play a key role in expanding GAI’s presence in Tampa.

John is a registered professional engineer in Florida and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida.
