Follow on Google News | US Black Engineer and Information Technology Magazine Addresses the Lack of Blacks in Energy FieldBy: Career Communications Group USBE&IT initiates a timely conversation on the need for Black professionals in the field. Its yearly "Top Blacks in Energy" list profiles executive-level professionals who've broken barriers making a place for themselves in the energy sector. The American Petroleum Institute reported that by the year 2020, 500,000 jobs will be created in the upstream oil and natural gas industries alone. In 2014, the Institute released a study finding that blacks represent about 8 percent of employees in the oil, gas and petrochemical sectors. “US Black Engineer’s Career Outlook section was created to give students full insight on the energy job market,” says Publisher and CEO of Career Communications Group Tyrone Taborn. “There is a dire need for black workers in the energy field, so our mission is to inspire students and introduce them to energy professionals who have paved the way for them to join the industry." In recent years, there have been frequent discoveries of new energy resources and technology, as well as a national push for the United States to become energy independent by 2030. Be sure to use Career Communications Group's USBE&IT magazine and its complimentary resources to explore the many career opportunities in energy. US Black Engineer and Information Technology's Back to School Internship issue will be published fall 2015. Find the complete Top Blacks in Energy list below.
