MESA, Ariz. - July 27, 2015 - PRLog -- Brighton Publishing LLC is pleased to announce the signing of novelist Dianne Hardman for her latest book, “Death Knows No Silence.” Scheduled for eBook release in fall-2015, it will be available through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other leading book retailers. The print version will be distributed by Ingram, the world’s largest book wholesale book distributor, in addition to being available worldwide through the Espresso Book Machine Network.

Death Knows No Silence is the prequel to Mask of Lies, the first novel in the Trails of Deception Mystery Crime Series. The story unveils the past of Tom Talbert’s abusive father, Buford. The setting remains in the small mountain town of Millaine, North Carolina.

Four-year old Buford Talbert finds himself separated from his parents after a massive train derailment. Inspired by a young doctor, Buford sacrifices his youth to fulfill his dream of becoming a doctor, but his father forces him to take over the family business, crushing his dream. Bitter and angry, Buford reluctantly takes over the family business becoming a ruthless tyrant. Later in life, he marries Ellie and they have a son named Tom. Life is good until Buford’s old self returns, unleashing his bitterness and anger on his wife and child.

Johnny and Faye Long live on the outskirts of town as a happy couple until Johnny loses his job. Faye obtains employment with Bufford’s company against Johnny’s wishes. Seeking comfort from the bottle, his constant drunken state pushes Faye into an affair with Buford and they fall in love. When Faye discovers she is pregnant, she runs away and hides, believing Buford will force her to have an abortion.

Unaware that Faye is pregnant, Buford disappears after unexpectedly transferring his entire estate to his son, Tom. Faye believes he disappeared to devote all his time to finding her. Tired of running, she returns to Johnny, who assumes he is the father of her unborn child. Soon afterwards, Faye gives birth at home to Alana Faye Talbert. Complications arise and Faye hemorrhages. Learning he is not the baby’s father, Johnny refuses to get a doctor and Faye dies. Alana grows up believing Johnny, and his live-in girlfriend, Beulah, are her parents.

Ultimately Buford learns Faye is dead and that Alana is his daughter. Escaping her abusive home situation, Alana flees into the forest where she stumbles onto a fight between two men and observes one man kill the other. The killer sees her, and attempts to catch her, but she escapes. She starts a new life, reluctant to disclose to anyone what she saw. Later, the killer returns to town and kidnaps Alana. Detective “Bubbles” Brody leads authorities to the site where a man, wearing a vest lined with explosives, is holding Alana and Tom Talbert hostage. The situation spins out of control, and moments later, an explosion rocks the forest. Authorities are unable to verify the man is dead, and assume he has escaped.

...Buford Talbert’s disappearance still remains a mystery.
