ATLANTA - July 23, 2015 - PRLog -- The Fashion Legacy Association for Industry Recognition (FLAIR) will host its biennial event in Atlanta, Georgia, August 22, 2015. FLAIR is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization comprised of over 500 former models, commentators and staff of the world renowned Ebony Fashion Fair® show that toured the country from 1958 to 2009. Many have transcended the runway, created successful brands and become leaders in the community including B. Smith, Richard Roundtree and Judy Pace.

On Saturday, August 22, 10 A.M. - 2:00 P.M., at C.A.U.S.E. for Elegance in Phipps Plaza, the organization will host its FLAIR Cares Mentoring Event of seminars for an audience of selected FLAIR mentees from local fashion and design schools. FLAIR members will provide sessions on self-esteem, make-up/self-image, entrepreneurship/leadership and social media/networking. While the private workshops are in session, the public is invited to meet and greet FLAIR members and enjoy the shopping experience at C.A.U.S.E for Elegance.

A Saturday evening red-carpet FLAIR Charitable Event will take place at Mason Fine Art from 6 pm – 12 midnight, where the organization will honor members of FLAIR, provide live entertainment and a fashion show featuring local designers.

Honorees include iconic restaurateur, author and pioneering transcultural lifestyle expert B. Smith, Atlanta's own Sonjia Amar Waller Young and commentator Virginia Tibbs. A tribute will be made to AfricanAmerican designers, Patrick Kelly, made posthumously; and Atlanta based fashion designer, Reco Chapple.

The organization’s mission is to empower, promote and provide educational and professional development programs for those demonstrating achievement in the fashion industry. “This weekend will afford us an opportunity to give back to the community as we mentor fashion and design students, award scholarships and support emerging multi-cultural fashion designers,” said FLAIR Founder, Chair & President, Faye Clerk Moseley. It was her vision that created the catalyst for launching the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and biennial event.

FLAIR Atlanta Chair, Regina Mixon Bates looks forward to the weekend of events. “We are excited about the Charitable Event that we have planned for our guests which begins with community service and concludes with honoree tributes, live entertainment and a fashion show featuring former Ebony Fashion Fair® models, in an elegant atmosphere of art, fashion and music.” Sponsors include Toyota, Thomas Henderson, TBW Consulting and Belk.
