Atlanta’s Gone with the Wind and Coca Cola

ATLANTA - July 23, 2015 - PRLog -- Atlanta is a city that's packed with attractions for all ages -- some of them quite quirky. For example, did you know that the A, as the local media dub it, not only features prominently in Gone with the Wind, but is also the birthplace of that quintessentially Southern refreshment, Co-Cola (Coca-Cola if you were born north of the Mason-Dixon Line).

Now there are two brand new museums based on these claims to fame.

The celebration of one of the most popular soft drinks on the planet is called, appropriately enough, the World of Coca-Cola (https://www.worldofcoca-cola.com/). This disabled accessible, family friendly wonderland relates the history of this popular drink via an immensely entertaining multimedia experience. Stimulate your senses with a 4-D movie and samples of 100 international beverages.

The stately structure that was home to Margaret Mitchell (http://www.atlantahistorycenter.com/mmh) when she wrote the bulk of Gone with the Wind is now listed by the National Register of Historic Places and has recently been opened to the public. View Mitchell's ground floor apartment, drop by the Visitor Center and check out the exhibitions related to the Pulitzer Prize winning author's life and the filming of her American classic.

For a fresh perspective on the period Mitchell wrote about, the Civil War area, head over to the American Cyclorama, newly relocated to Grant Park. You will enter through a hole in the floor, and view the world's largest oil painting, a depiction of a Civil War battle in Georgia that has been on display since 1893.

Don’t forget that Atlanta is a popular destination. Atlanta has so much to see and do that you’ll appreciate staying in a comfortable hotel with easy access to everything. The nicer and lower priced Atlanta hotels tend to fill up fast in any season, though, so it’s a good idea to reserve in advance (http://crshotels.com/).
