VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - July 22, 2015 - PRLog -- After years of working with the medical industry, Wynne Rentz is looking forward to more directly caring for others through her new business, Home Helpers and Direct Link of Virginia Beach.

Home Helpers is the nation’s leading franchise specializing in comprehensive home care for seniors, new mothers and individuals needing recuperative and continuing assistance. Direct Link is its proprietary line of 24/7 medical alert systems, including a fall sensor, automated medication dispenser and vital signs monitoring units. This new, locally-owned and operated business serves Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth and the surrounding communities.

Home Helpers and Direct Link offers free in-home consultations and works with each client to create a flexible, affordable care plan based on a person’s individual needs. Services offered include companionship, laundry, light housekeeping, respite care, meal preparation and transportation as well as medication management and care management.

Before opening this local business, Rentz spent more than 20 years in outside sales, most recently in the medical sales arena managing more than 60 accounts for ophthalmology and optometry practices. She also spent some time in advertising sales for a neighborhood newsletter, but missed the healthcare industry.

“After hearing several stories about aging parents moving in with their children – and working through my own personal experience – I started looking into the senior care industry.  After researching, I found that Home Helpers and Direct Link was the best fit for me and the community. I am excited for the opportunity to give families peace of mind and either maintaining or improving the quality of life for those who need it,” Rentz said.

Rentz personal experience with in-home care all started with her grandmother, who lives alone in Florida, hurt her back and was unable to care for herself.

“I went to help her and realized how we take for granted the simple daily tasks for daily living.  She needed help with laundry, to eat, to bath, to get bills paid etc.  She was fortunate that her family was able to come to her rescue and have been taking shifts to help her during her recovery, but not everyone has that option or the family members need respite care. That’s where Home Helpers and Direct Link comes in,” Rentz said.

Each individual client receives services tailored to meet their specific needs by caregivers who become an extension of their family. Home Helpers’ full-range of home care services empower clients to live healthier and more rewarding lives in the privacy, safety, and comfort of their own homes.

Home Helpers and Direct Link of Virginia Beach has made a commitment to providing the highest quality care to seniors in Virginia Beach area] by implementing employee training programs developed by the Institute for Professional Care Education. Home Helpers and Direct Link of Virginia Beach’s employees now have access to IPCed’s online caregiver training as well as IPCed’s award-winning Medifecta series of DVD-based caregiver training.

“It’s so unfortunate that many people are unaware that in-home services exist and are affordable compared to assisted living facilities. It’s convenient and we offer the most important service of all – our clients are able to stay in their own home,” Rentz said.

In addition to the training she’s received as a franchise owner, Rentz is a certified Alzheimer’s educator and is currently training to become a Certified Senior Advisor. Rentz is also looking forward to providing services to area veterans and to incorporating therapy dogs into the Home Helpers & Direct Link suite of services. Rentz is married with two teenagers and she has lived in Virginia Beach for more than 20 years.
