ST. HELENA, Calif. - July 21, 2015 - PRLog -- Brotemarkle Davis & Co., LLP (BDCo), an accounting and advisory firm specializing in the wine and hospitality industries, today announced that partner Tom Davis was honored by the California Society of Certified Public Accountants for 40 years of continuous membership and service to the profession.

Davis, a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, began his accounting career in 1968 with Arthur Andersen. He left Andersen to serve in the US Air Force and moved to California in 1973 where he found his way to the wine industry. Tom’s impressive depth of tax knowledge and wine industry perspective are appreciated by everyone he encounters.

In 1975, the year Tom joined the California Society, the Golden State Warriors won the NBA Championship, Saturday Night Live premiered on television and Pet Rocks, Rubik’s cubes, and mood rings were all the rage.  Although Microsoft was formed by Bill Gates and Paul Allen that year, Tom was preparing income tax returns on paper or via submission to one of two automated tax processing centers available at the time. He stayed busy helping his customers avoid paying the top individual tax rate of 70%.

BDCo CEO Craig Underhill said, “We are grateful for Tom’s foresight in helping build the firm that has become BDCo. His 40 years of expertise and focus in the wine industry has made a huge difference for our Napa Valley customers and our firm. We look forward to his next 40. ”
