The Tone Poet Receives Finalist Award in the Eric Hoffer Book Awards

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - July 21, 2015 - PRLog -- BQB Publishing is thrilled to announce that The Tone Poet, the debut novel from Mark Rickert, was selected as a finalist for the Eric Hoffer Book Award. The Tone Poet, published in October, has the distinction of receiving a Finalist award, an honor that is given to less than 10% of entries.

The Eric Hoffer Book Award, previously named the Writers’ Notes Award, is given in memory of American philosopher Eric Hoffer. The Eric Hoffer Book Award recognizes small, academic and independent presses internationally.

Labeled as riveting and engrossing, The Tone Poet is a dark fantasy that follows Cameron Blake, a renowned composer, who has spent his life trying to recapture the astral tones he heard as a child during a life-threatening car accident. In the attempted process of achieving this artistic goal, Cameron meets Maestro Leonin Bloom, who turns Cameron’s quest to find the most heavenly music into one of grotesque nightmares.

About Mark Rickert

Mark Rickert was born in Nashville, Tennessee and is the grandson of songwriter and country music manager Merle Kilgore. Before becoming a novelist, Rickert served eight years as a journalist in the US Army Reserves and spent a year in Baghdad.

He is currently chief of public affairs for the US Army Baltimore Recruiting Battalion at the Fort G. Meade military installation. Is also is a contributing journalist for the Recruiter Journal. He lives in Annapolis with his wife and daughter.
