AURORA, Colo. - July 20, 2015 - PRLog -- Aurora, Colo (July 20, 2015) – This summer marks the 27th annual Kid’s Cure for Cancer, a fundraising event to support the children and families who call Brent’s Place home. For the 2nd year AutoNation is the presenting sponsor of this family-focused fun walk which will tour different Fun Zones on the Anschutz Medical Campus this Saturday, July 25th at 9am. The Fun Zones, perfect for the entire family, will wind through the Anschutz Medical Campus by Children’s Hospital Colorado and will include obstacle course, water and party zones leading up the finish line into an entertainment village in General’s Park. After finishing the walk, kids and families can enjoy a pancake breakfast served by local Optimist groups, entertainment, and kid friendly activities in the Kid’s Corner including: train rides, face painting crafts and a jumping castle.

“Brent’s Place provides families with kids being treated for life threatening cancer with a home to heal and recover,” shared Brent’s Place Executive Director Sean Meyerhoffer. “Families are able to stay at Brent’s Place at no cost to lessen the serious financial burden they already face. Brent’s Place wouldn’t be possible without the generous support from AutoNation, donors and participants alike,” continued Meyerhoffer, “$93 a day is all it takes to cover the daily costs associated with each of the 18 apartments as well as individually tailored support programs at Brent’s Place.”

All donations raised will benefit families like Avaleena’s who has called Brent’s Place home for 113 days while 6 year-old Avaleena has undergone chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant to treat her Neuroblastoma. When Leena’s mother Rhonda was told that Leena would need a Bone Marrow Transplant in March and that it would require months of living away from home she was petrified about what that would mean for her family. She had already used up all her leave from work and did not know how they could manage living in Denver for five or more months.  That was when someone told them about Brent's Place! Leena and her family moved into Brent's Place and breathed a sigh of relief, knowing they had a home right next to the hospital. Leena loves getting to play with all the other kids living at Brent's Place and her family loves knowing she is in an environment conducive to her recovery and designed for hope!

To help ease the financial burden of families like Avaleena’s who are facing some of the most difficult times of their lives, Kid’s Cure participants are encouraged to fundraise at least $93 to sponsor one day. Registration is free for participants and everyone will enjoy a pancake breakfast after crossing the finish line as well as a T-shirt and Kids Corner activities.  Join the fun on Saturday, July 25th at 9am at General’s Park in Aurora.
