Alessandro Marchi, master craftsman, athlete and artist, spent over a decade researching, developing and testing Foil skis with a singular goal in mind: to create a ski of World Cup performance, in perfect balance with the body, in harmony with nature and one that aesthetically celebrates the timeless beauty of skiing.

With the help of his equally-passionate colleagues, Foil –virtually under-the-radar, has become one of the most sought-after high-performance, bespoke skis in the world. Every Foil ski is handcrafted by Alessandro and individually customized to each client’s specifications. Foil purposely limits its production to a maximum of 300 pairs per year in order to ensure both quality and exclusiveness.

In addition to their stunning vintage aesthetics, what elevates Foil skis above all others is their proprietary combination of materials and processes. Like a master chef’s gourmet recipe, Alessandro’s experimentation lead to discovering the precise blend of premium ingredients from the ash / paulownia wood cores to the bamboo sidewalls; from the stainless steel edges to the nano-graphite racing bases. This, combined with Foil’s unparalleled pressing and finishing processes has created a ski unlike any other; a ski that becomes a perfect extension of the skier’s body, providing precise balance, flex, torsion control and “feel” for the mountain underfoot.

In terms of sales, Foil takes a somewhat non-traditional avenue toward cultivating new clients. Foil is not sold in any retail sporting goods stores or ski shops, but only through its website and via an influential group of Ambassadors and Ambassador Properties who passionately share the Foil story with friends and family.

While Foil will not disclose the names of its clients, it’s notable to mention that they are among the most distinguished athletes and individuals to be found on the slopes anywhere in the world.

The 2014/15 season was Foil’s introductory year –primarily in Europe & North America, and the reaction from both those who were able to test the skis and its new “Family Members” was astounding.

Each Foil ski package includes customized high-performance bindings, hand-stitched poles and a bespoke travel bag made from the finest full grain leather (www.foilskis.com/products). The client’s initials are beautifully engraved onto an exquisite medallion seamlessly inset near the tail of the skis in addition to having their personal monogram elegantly affixed to the travel bag.

In terms of ordering, Foil places the highest priority on personally attending to each client from start to finish. Once an access or referral code has been obtained (either directly from Foil or via a Foil ambassador), clients fill out the online Questionnaire –which helps to ensure the proper ski selection. If a client already has a preferred ski in mind, they can proceed directly to order their customized package. Delivery times are quoted and confirmed on a case-by-case basis depending upon special requests. Foil also offers a concierge service that includes personalized hand delivery and set-up from a Foil associate.
