GREENWICH, Conn. - July 20, 2015 - PRLog -- At the Greenwich Ballet Academy, our regular summer session has begun with a core of exceptionally talented and hard-working young dancers. Yuri Vodologa, artistic director for GBA, is joined by the accomplished year-round faculty, including Denis Gronostayskiy and Nastia Babayeva, both graduates of the Bolshoi Ballet Academy; Oksana Konobayeva and Olga Gershanok, both former soloists for American Ballet Theatre and Nadia Zhivotenko, Maggie Bradley and Bryn Cohn. Mr. Vodolaga particularly enjoys the summer intensive for its capacity to really advance students in the fundamentals of the Vaganova technique, recognized around the world as the gold standard in classical ballet training.

At GBA, however, plans are already on their way for the 2015 production of The Nutcracker to be held at the White Plains Performing Arts Center on December 5th and 6th.  The Academy is holding ongoing auditions for students who wish to be part of this traditional holiday ballet.  There is a role for every age and every level of skill, from the mice to the Sugar Plum Fairy.

“Greenwich Ballet Academy is widely regarded as one of the premier dance academies in the region, and we’re fortunate to be able to offer such exceptional student and faculty talent to the community,” said Marisol Rivera Thurman, president and board chairman of the Greenwich Ballet Academy. “At GBA, our style of nurturing dance excellence as well as supporting academic excellence has produced some exceptionally talented graduates.”  Laura Baruch is one of the students who has chosen a dance career having been recently accepted in the pre-professional program of Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington D.C., Other 2015 graduates such as Maria Jose Esquivel and Celia Volkwein, chose academic routes at top universities.  “Their success is representative of the work ethic and focus that the pre-professional ballet training at GBA can provide,” noted Rivera Thurman.“

Students and parents interested in fall registration may do so online at www.greenwichballetacademy.org. New students are required to schedule a placement audition.
