By: Fathers2Dads Fathers 2 Dads, a local nonprofit founded by Missouri City resident, Scott Porter, is launching its 2nd annual nationwide photo contest called "A Summer to Remember 'Daddy Up' Challenge." The innovative initiative invites men from across the country to take "selfies" with their kids engaging in a fun activity and upload the photos to the Fathers2Dads website. "Statistics show that the average dad spends less than an hour a day with their children, so with this campaign we are asking dads to be more conscious of the time they spend with their children to create memories that will last a lifetime," said Porter. Photos will be displayed on the nonprofit's Facebook page and voted on by the public July 1 - Aug. 31, 2015. Three finalists will be chosen as first, second and third place winners based on the number of votes received. To enter the contest, fathers are asked to visit the fathers 2 dads Facebook page or website www.fathers2dads.org to upload their photos, click on the Daddy Up Pledge button and respond to three questions, then click on the Facebook button to like the organization's page. Fathers who take the Daddy Up Photo Challenge have a chance to win one of three top prizes: 1st place a Chevy ex-cab truck donated by a Houston-area used car dealership, Success Auto, 2nd place, a weekend family getaway, and 3rd place - dinner and a movie (for a family of 4), according to Porter. All entrants will have a chance at winning exciting weekly giveaways, including gift cards, gas cards, movie passes, and more. The names of weekly winners will be posted on the organization's Facebook page each Friday until the contest ends. Porter encourages men to think of simple ways to become involved in their children's lives. "Take them bowling, take them to the movies, take your daughter on a date, take your son to a ball game, go fishing, read a book, go have ice cream or go to church together," said Porter of the many ways fathers can spend time with their kids. "Then when you guys are out having fun doing your activity and spending time together, grab your cell phone and take a picture with you and your children," added Porter. Last year's Fathers2Dads contest went viral and inspired fathers from across the country to create and capture lasting memories with their children.
