NEW YORK - July 17, 2015 - PRLog -- Created to bring people of interest together for networking and fashion, A Fashion Affair: NYFW Men’s S/S 16 brought an exclusive invite only event to the first New York Fashion Week for Men.

Hosted in The DL’s Red Room, guest included Tony Award winning producer Stephen T. Byrd, April Jones of New Jersey City Fashion Week, Bravo TV’s Chantelle Fraser and Geneva S. Thomas of Blood Sweat and Heels, boutique owners, designers, a host of bloggers and media including fashion writer Judith Davis and RAINE magazine, a number of publicist including Kathy Liautaud of KL PR and Pujah Shah of Stylight, fashion designers, and business executives including Partick J. Harvey of LIGITT Regional Center, Peggy Dodson, Owner of UBC TV network, celebrity trainer and youth athletic coach Stacey Daniels, and popular New York celebrity event planner Village Dumetz of Village Arts Management.

Independently produced by a conglomerate of industry professionals the evening began with an hour of power networking, leading into THE COUTURE MAN EXCELLENCE AWARD and style presentations.

The group recognized 5 prominent individuals who have made an impact within the men’s fashion industry with THE COUTURE MAN EXCELLENCE AWARD. The 2015 recipients included Jhanes Barnes, Fran Boller, David Chu, John Jones and Berny Martin.

“I had a chance to interact with a few of our honorees. Jhane Barnes said to me- ‘you know I don’t design menswear anymore.’ I responded that she should be acknowledged. She was the first to win a CFDA award for menswear. That alone is great and needed to be said in a big way during the first fashion week for men in New York,” co-producer Etophia Lane of Harrington & Lane.

“This wasn’t about getting them to come to the event, it was about sharing with others the efforts of living historic figures in the men’s fashion industry. These are the people who are not popularly talked about but make such a huge impact. People need to hear their bios. Their stories are amazing,” added Lane.

In an Instagram post Berny Martin stated, “So happy to be able to share this award with you last night!! Thank Josue Champagne, thank you New York, and big thanks to Etophia and your team.”  David Chu sent an email expressing his “sincerest thanks.”

Keeping it fun and reminiscent of childhood favorites of men, guest were treated with oatmeal pies, peanut butter and cheese crackers.  “It’s not every day you get properly served treats of your child hood” Carlotta Harrington of Harrington & Lane.

Professional announcer, Chuck Lott served as host for the evening.

The style presentation “From Boys to Men” curated by event co-producer LaMar “The Couture Man” Wright boasted a selection of 6 looks that included pieces from Aldo, Cole Haan, Joe, Uniqlo, Calvin Klein, Premium Clothing, Ralph Lauren and Zara.  “I enjoy infusing ready to wear with trending style and impeccable taste,” LaMar Wright.

The event ended with the presentation from Impact University IMU. Created by Jovan Acree, the collection supports the fight against homelessness. “This was an historical moment in my life where I was able to showcase me helping the homeless and helping victims of hardships through fashion,” Jovan Acree.

Throughout the evening guests were surprised with special raffled give-a-ways including box of luxury organic skin care products from Spadet, a $250 gift certificate to PRZMAN, men’s goodie bag from hair care specialist Miss Jessie’s and luxury bottles of alkaline water from Fortune V Water.
