Heywood Hospital Hosts Informational Seminar on Breastfeeding Your Baby

GARDNER, Mass. - July 17, 2015 - PRLog -- Gardner, MA –Heywood Hospital will be holding an evening informational session about feeding options for newborns and why “breast is best.” This event will be held on Thursday, August 6th from 6 – 8 pm in the Heywood Board Room and is part of the kickoff celebration for World Breastfeeding Week, which runs from August 1st through August 7th.

The event is hosted by Heywood Hospital’s LaChance Maternity Center and will feature a panel of maternal/child experts including:

• Dr. Katy Hannigan – Pediatrician

• Gail Chaffee RN, IBCLC – Lactation Consultant

• Karen Beaton RNC, BSN, MS – Director Maternal/Child Health

• Yumi Wada-Bruso RN, CLC – Lactation Counselor

• Christin Saucier RD, LD, CLC – Lactation Counselor and WIC Breastfeeding Coordinator

Parents who attend will discover the differences between breast milk and formula and learn why breastfeeding is so important for infants. Heywood Hospital’s maternal child experts will also discuss the effects of Labor & Delivery practices on breastfeeding and provide information on services available at Heywood Hospital. Refreshments will be served. Door prize raffles include breast pumps, Gardner Ale House gift certificates, baby t-shirts and more!
