Devon Prep Students & Faculty Fight Prostate Cancer With Wiffle Ball Tournament

ASTON, Pa. - July 17, 2015 - PRLog -- For the second year in a row, long time Devon Prep employee Mr. Pat Nattle, a resident of Monte Clare, spent several hours on a recent Saturday morning working in the hot sun on the school’s baseball field. Although the temperature topped 90 degrees, Nattle didn’t mind, and he wasn’t alone. In fact more than 150 Devon Prep students, alumni, parents, and faculty as well as Nattle’s family and friends, were on hand to mark the Second Annual “Batting for Pat” Wiffle Ball Tournament in his honor.

The Tournament, which raised $7,000 for the ZERO – The End of Prostate Cancer organization, is dedicated to Nattle who was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year. Twenty-two teams, with players ranging in age from 4 to 70 years old, participated in the single elimination tournament. In the end the Squishes, Devon Prep Sophomores Devon Laut of Media, Jack Marquis of Wayne, Josh van Oostrom of Exton, Matt Torchiana of Phoenixville & Faculty Member Mr. Joe Donahue of Broomall, emerged the winners.

Nattle spent the day greeting all the participants, watching the teams play, making sure everyone had what they needed, and giving the youngest children rides in a golf cart. During the tournament Nattle took the time to thank everyone for their support and involvement in the event especially his wife Gail and Devon Prep Teacher Ms. Barbara Medina. He presented each woman with a bouquet of flowers.

This year’s tournament raised $2000 more than last year. All proceeds from the tournament benefitted ZERO – The End of Prostate Cancer, (http://zerocancer.org/) a national nonprofit organization leading the fight against prostate cancer by advancing research, encouraging action, and providing education and support to men and their families.  ZERO strives to create Generation ZERO – the first generation of men free from prostate cancer.
