July 16, 2015 - PRLog -- Bobbi Carducci, author of Confessions of an Imperfect Caregiver and the well-acclaimed Storee Wryter Gets a Dog, is meeting with readers to speak about her experience as a caregiver. Patrons of the Gum Spring Public Library in Loudoun, Virginia, can “check out” her book or herself for a first-hand account of caregiving.

In Confessions, Carducci explains her seven-year experience dealing with a mentally and physically ill father-in-law. With honesty and grace, she covers the highs, lows, and admitted imperfections of being a caregiver. What Carducci experienced is not uncommon, but many caregivers don’t know that they’re not alone in these experiences.

Reader Dennis Fargo said of the experience, “Being present to see facial expression and non-verbals from the book is richer experience than just turning a page.”

Those whose Carducci’s experiences resonate with will find her a beacon of information and support. By “checking” her out, one gains more than just a meeting but a space where imperfections are accepted and understood.

Librarian Carolyn Reagle shares feedback from patrons: “People have told us this is the best library program they’ve ever been to. . . . Most people say that this is a touching program, this is very different.”

Gum Spring Public Library is part of a growing trend of libraries offering “human books” in addition to traditional library services. This program began in Denmark in 2000 to allow neighbors to get to know one another.

Confessions of an Imperfect Caregiver (284 pgs., $15.95 print, $2.99 ebook) is published by Open Books Press (http://openbookspress.com). For more information or to purchase a book, you may contact Bobbi via email bcarducci@comcast.net or via her website www.bobbicarducci.com.
