Follow on Google News | Mystery Author Martin Roy Hill Releases Two New Kindle Short StoriesHardboiled alternative history mystery and speculative mystery are latest Kindle Shorts offerings.
By: Martin Roy Hill In the hardboiled mystery, "Hitler Is Coming," originally published by ALT HIST: The Journal of Historical Fiction and Alternative History, Nazi Germany won the Second World War by creating the atomic bomb first. Moscow, London, and New York lay in radioactive ruins. Paul Klee, former OSS agent and now a National Police investigator, is temporarily assigned to the American SS to stop a plan to assassinate a victorious Adolf Hitler on his first visit to the defeated United States. If he fails, the Nazis will take their vengeance out on the American people. Racing to find the assassin, Klee wends his way through a U.S. few Americans today know once existed, a land of fascist preachers, cabbies, and political leaders. In the speculative short story, "The Last President," Hill explores the possible impact of privatization of government services. In the not-too-distant future of the United States, Sergeant Frank Wengler, a corporate-contracted police officer, is called to assist in the eviction of an elderly man from his company-owned home. Wengler senses something familiar about the old man, but can't put his finger on it. The old man, on the other hand, simply wants to talk, and as Wengler listens he begins to learn the American history no one in that future time is allowed to know, the history of The Long Coup and The Last President of the United States. The Last President was originally published in the Off the KUF Volume 2 short story anthology. Both short stories are available for the Kindle for just 99 cents. Martin Roy Hill is the author of the military mystery thriller, "The Killing Depths," the noir mystery, "Empty Places," and the award-winning short story collection, "DUTY: Suspense and Mystery Stories from the Cold War and Beyond." His latest book, "Eden: A Sci-Fi Novella," was released in November 2014 to outstanding reviews. Hill lives in San Diego, CA. End
