Free Mouth Guards for Yount Athletes from SmileHaus Orthodontics

SOUTH PASADENA, Calif. - July 13, 2015 - PRLog -- SOUTH PASADENA, CALIF., JULY 18, 2015 – SmileHaus Orthodontics will be hosting their first Mouth Guard event this year to support local youth sports organizations in the Los Angeles County.  This will be the first year SmileHaus Orthodontics will be hosting their “Guard your Smile” Mouth Guard Program.  Dr. Karla Thompson, the owner of SmileHaus Orthodontics will be giving one free mouth guards to all children who are playing a sport.  The event will be held Saturday, July 18, 2015 from 10am to 1pm at her office.  Anyone interested in receiving their mouth guard are recommended to call the office at (626) 788-5911 to reserve it and to obtain more information.

Whether in a field, on a court or on the ice, a mouth guard is the most important piece of equipment for both youth and adult athletes. Oral injuries are the most common type of injury sustained by children, teens and adults participating in sports. According to the American Dental Association, more than 200,000 oral injuries are prevented each year in the United States by sports mouth guards.

A mouth guard is a flexible device worn over teeth during athletic and recreational activities to prevent them from damage.  A good-fitting mouth guard is especially important for braces wearers as mouth guards act as a buffer to prevent damage to the teeth, brackets and other fixed appliances.  A mouth guard can help protect against chipped or broken teeth, root and bone damage and tooth loss and also safeguard against more serious injuries such as jaw fractures, cerebral hemorrhage, concussions and neck injuries.
