DAV Flight Team to Partner with Warbird Heritage Foundation for AirVenture Oshkosh 2015 Skyraider and Skyhawk display

OSHKOSH, Wis. - July 13, 2015 - PRLog -- The DAV (Disabled American Veterans), the most long-lasting veteran’s advocacy and assistance group in this country, will display a Douglas AD-1 Skyraider and an A-4 Skyhawk from the Warbird Heritage Foundation on-site at AirVenture 2015 in Oshkosh, WI.

The DAV aviation outreach program, better known at the DAV Flight Team, is looking forward to the opportunity to debut Vietnam War Era aircraft to coincide with the Friday AirVenture “Salute to Veterans” Yellow Ribbon Old Glory Honor Flight which will take up to 100 Vietnam veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials honoring their service and recognizing their many sacrifices.  The veterans will be treated to a hero’s welcome on Boeing Plaza by EAA AirVenture attendees, followed by a concert performance by Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band sponsored by the DAV along with EAA Warbirds of America with support from Rob Hagedorn.

These aircraft will perform in the airshow, serve as static displays in Warbird Alley for public viewing and most importantly will serve as a visible and fitting tribute to the service and sacrifice that veterans have made for our freedom. The public is invited to view the aircraft up close over the week-long event from July 20 to July 26, 2015 and to chat further with representatives about how DAV helps injured veterans and their family members receive the benefits they deserve.

DAV National Commander, Ron Hope states, “We are pleased to be able to bring these remarkable aircraft to the public and proud to stand alongside the other patriotic and military friendly citizens that make this country so great.  Our message of volunteerism and support of our nation’s sick and disabled veterans is one that we know will go far with this group. We invite everyone in attendance to come meet the pilots, crew and DAV representatives on hand and to see these incredible aircraft up close."

Disabled American Veterans, representing more than 1.3 million disabled veterans, is a non-profit organization founded in 1920 and chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1932. It is dedicated to one, single purpose: Fulfilling our promises to the men and women who served.

The Warbird Heritage Foundation is a 501(c)-3 not-for-profit foundation created in December, 2003.  The Foundatoin was organized for the purpose of acquiring, restoring, displaying and demonstrating various antique aircraft of historic military significance. The Foundation’s focus is on preserving it’s aircraft in flying condition, demonstrating these aircraft at airshows and other special events, and promoting public interest in historic military aircraft.
